Refund Policy

Thank you for choosing Meridiano Ceylon for your Sri Lankan travel experience. We value your trust and strive to provide a seamless booking process. If you need to cancel or modify your journey, we are here to help.

1. Booking Cancellations

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email. As a travel provider, we incur operational costs with local hotels and transport partners immediately upon your booking. Therefore, the following cancellation charges apply:

  • More than 14 days before the tour date: Full refund (excluding bank processing and transaction fees).
  • Between 7 and 14 days before the tour date: 50% cancellation fee of the total booking value.
  • Less than 7 days before the tour date / no-show: 100% cancellation fee; no refund will be issued.

2. The "Safety Guarantee" (Group Tours)

For our "Join a Group" Flash Deals, we offer a unique Safety Guarantee. If the minimum group size of 6 travelers is not met by the specified payment deadline (e.g., October 20th for November tours), you are eligible for a 100% refund. This refund includes your initial registration fee (e.g., $20 or $30) and any balance payments made.

3. Non-Refundable Items

Certain costs incurred by Meridiano Ceylon on your behalf are non-refundable once processed. These include:

  • Entrance tickets: Fees for National Parks, Sigiriya, or other attractions are non-refundable once purchased.
  • Specialized permits: Legal paperwork and permits for activities like Wildlife Photography Tours (which require 30 days' notice).
  • Visa fees: Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) fees paid to the Department of Immigration and Emigration are subject to a strict no-refund policy.

4. Refund Processing Time

Once a refund is approved, it is processed through our payment partner, PayHere. The timeline for the funds to reach your account depends on the transaction type:

  • Instant refunds (same day): If a refund is initiated on the same day as the payment, it is processed as a "Void." The amount is typically reflected in your account immediately or within 24 hours.
  • Delayed refunds (after 2 days): If the refund is initiated after the payment has been settled to our bank (usually after 2 days), it can take 5 to 10 business days to reflect in your card statement.
  • Non-card payments: Refunds for payments made via mobile wallets (e.g., mCash, eZcash) or direct bank transfers must be handled manually and may take 10 to 14 business days.

5. Weather and Force Majeure

Tours will not be refunded due to unfavorable weather unless an official closure is mandated by Sri Lankan authorities. In cases of government-mandated restrictions or natural disasters, we will prioritize rescheduling your tour or providing a credit voucher for future travel.
